Elche: City of Culture and Palm Trees
Departure according to pick-up point (between 09:00 and 09:30 AM). The Palm Grove of Elche is a unique cultural landscape of outstanding value and universal significance, the heart of an irrigation system established by the founders of the Islamic city of Elche a millennium ago. Known as the 'City of Culture and Palm Trees', Elche allows visitors to discover two UNESCO World Heritage sites: the Palm Grove of Elche, a millenary oasis, and the 'Misteri d'Elx', a medieval sung drama. The guided visit includes the Huerto del Cura and its Imperial Palm, the Municipal Park, and the Basilica of Santa María. Return to Alicante. Arrival around 1:30 PM.
Elche & Orihuela: Palms and Cathedrals
Departure according to pick-up point (between 09:00 and 09:30 AM) from Vega Baja. Meet our local guide. Orihuela, one of the most beautiful towns in Alicante, birthplace of poet Miguel Hernández and former capital of the Kingdom of Valencia under Felipe V. Visit the Gothic Church of Santiago Apóstol, the Church of the Holy Justa and Rufina, and the Cathedral, built on Visigothic and Hispano-Arabic remains since the 13th century. Free time for optional lunch. Continue to Elche for a free visit to the Huerto del Cura and its Imperial Palm. Return to Alicante. Arrival around 5:30 PM.
Valencia Excursion from Alicante
Start: 8:30/9:00 AM with pick-up from your accommodation in Alicante. We'll depart towards the City of Arts and Sciences, where we'll visit the Science Museum, a spectacular interactive space with the motto "do not touch is forbidden". You'll admire Santiago Calatrava's avant-garde architecture before heading to the historic center to discover the Silk Exchange (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Valencia Cathedral and the bustling Central Market, one of Europe's modernist temples of gastronomy. Afterwards we'll head to the village of El Palmar, in the heart of the Albufera Natural Park, the international birthplace of paella, where you'll enjoy a traditional menu at a local restaurant (Restaurante El Palmar or similar) including typical starters from the area, authentic Valencian paella, dessert and a drink. After a day of cultural and culinary immersion, we'll begin the journey back, arriving at your accommodation in Alicante in the mid-afternoon.
